Historic Archives of Valmalenco

The parish priest's house in Chiesa used to house theArchive of the Magnificent Valley of Malenco. Until 1776 it was stored in a

box with three keys, in which all the writings concerning the Valley in general werre kept: one of the keys held the "quadra" of Lanzada, one the "quadra" of Chiesa, and one the three of Milirolo, Bondoledo and Campo [Torre di S. Maria].

These writings were then catalogued in 1788 by the parish priest of Lanzada, Gervasio Maria Trioli, who at the time was also Chancellor of the Valley, who drew up a precious tool, theInventory of the writings of the Valley of Malenco, which not only listed the documents, but also gave a brief summary. The Inventory is now kept in the Parish Archive of Lanzada.
